这座玻璃吊桥连接了格拉申镇和采尔马特镇，同时封闭了Europa-Way与吊桥的相同路段。Europa-Way于2010年开通，当时长250米，悬于25米高的空中，不过在开通2个月时被一块山上滚落的巨石给切断了。
The Bridge connects Grächen with Zermatt and closes the part of the Europa-Way, which was cut after a rock fall in 2010. The Europa-Way in that time was 250 meter long and 25 meters over the ground but it was destroyed 2 months after its opening.
这座新桥全长494米，“漂浮”在85米高的空中，落石区“Grabengufers”可以被完美地绕过。
The new bridge is 494 meters long and floats 85 meters over the ground. So that the rockfall area of the «Grabengufer» can be avoided in a lofty height.
上周六，第一个行人通过这座世界上最长的吊桥，将阿尔卑斯山的美景尽收眼底。
On Saturday the first pedestrians took a walk on the spectacular construction at a great height.
根据采尔马特旅游局的数据，这座吊桥是目前世界上最长的。虽然奥地利的Tyrol桥比瑞士的这座更高（110米）长度却只有405米。
According to Zermatt Tourism, the Europa-bridge is the longest suspension bridge of the world. In Reutte, located in the Austrian Tyrol, hangs a bridge which is indeed up to 110 meter higher, but «only» 405 meters long.
吊桥的轴承必须非常牢固，需承受住58吨自重和山体运动产生的力。
The bearings of the suspension bridge are embedded in strong fundaments. They have to bear the own weight of 58 tones and endure the rocking motion, which are triggered from the users of the bridge.
桥下山谷的景致异常壮观。步行者必须客服恐高，因为他们可以通过脚下的网格看到深渊。
The view down to the valley is spectacular. Hikers have to be free from giddiness, since they can see the abyss through the step grating.
格拉申镇、圣尼可劳斯镇、兰达镇、塔什镇和采尔马特镇的镇政府投资25万瑞士法郎来建造这座桥梁，吊桥以其最大的赞助者Charles Kuonen（10万瑞士法郎）命名：“查尔斯·库嫩吊桥”。
The municipals of Grächen, St. Niklaus, Randa, Täsch and Zermatt contributed 250’000 Swiss Francs in total to the construction. However, named was the bridge after its main sponsor «Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge», who donated 100’000 Swiss Francs.
Swissrope公司建立了一个量身定制的减震系统，使吊桥保持稳定。其悬挂线缆净重8吨！
The company Swissrope has installed a special damping system, so that the bridge hardly swings, Zermatt Tourism reported. The bearer cable weight 8 tones.
这项工作花了两个半月，于2周前开通，当时便吸引了差不多300名游客前来观瞻。
The construction took around two and a half months. 250 to 300 people came to the opening ceremony two weeks ago.
